המטרה העיקרית של המיזם היה להתניע שיתוף פעולה בכדי ליצור תשתית וירטואלית שתאפשר לקהילה של חוקרים במדעי הרוח (לא ממוקמתבמרחב) ליטול חלק במחקר שתפני ולפרסם את תוצאותיו בווב.
היוזמה שאפה לפתח מערכת למידה מקוונת שתחבר בין מחקר וחינוך. הכוונה הייתה לפעול מעבר להעברת ידע לקראת פיתוח והגברת מיומנויות חשיבה ביקורתית ופעילות מדעית עצמאית בין תלמידי מחקר וחוקרים צעירים. מקש הוזמנה להצטף ליוזמה בעקבו השאיפה הזאת.
שיתוף הפעולה התבצע באמצעות שלושה קבוצות עבודה
מקש השתתפה באופן פעיל ברשת שהתפתחה במסגרת היוזמה הזו.
