EUROPEANA is the digital platform and interface for Europe’s archives, libraries and museums and multimedia repositories. At the beginning of 2017 it makes available more than 54 million digitised objects of art, books, video and musical treasures.
Cultural institutions from Israel and Jewish institutions around the world have aggregated their collections into Europeana through a variety of special initiatives: Athena, Linked Heritage, Athena Plus, DM2E, Judaica Europeana.
MAKASH is a member of the Europeana Network Association. This is the community of digital cultural heritage that supports the values and the activities of Europeana. The Europeana Council elected by the association together with the Europeana Foundation decide how best to advance and support its strategy for the next five years and what is to be included in its annual work plan. The Europeana Council oversees the activities of the Working Groups and Task Forces constituted to support the development of the business plan.
Education
The area closest to the main objectives of MAKASH is the application of resources from Cultural Heritage to benefit education. MAKASH was active in the process establishing the Europeana policy for education expressed in the recommendations from May 2015:
